If you are looking for an opportunity to
change lives for the better and really make a difference, Catholic Family
Service is the place for you! Currently, these are the volunteer
opportunities we have available:
REFUGEE DIVISION: The Refugee
Division (R&C) is looking for fun-hearted, flexible people with an interest
in other cultures! Many of our volunteers tell us that working with
refugees has greatly enriched their lives and the lives of their children!
Friendships form that last a lifetime. What is your special talent?
Befriend a refugee family, exchange food, have dinners, teach English, help
case managers pick up a newly-arriving family from the airport, take a child
and his/her parent to the health department for a check up, assist staff as
they set up an apartment in preparation for incoming refugees, pick up
donations of furniture from local donors…. The list never ends! There is
so much to do in the Refugee Division, and all of it is very fulfilling and
meaningful. If you are interested in working with people from all over the
world and learning about other cultures, please contact Lori Bigham,
Volunteer Coordinator, at 376-4571, ext. 258.
COMMUNITY SERVICES: The Inter Faith
Hunger Project (IFHP) is always in need of helpers to stock shelves, take
food to elderly or handicapped folks who are unable to get out, conduct
interviews with applicants, and make pickups of food at the Food Bank.
IFHP volunteers love what they do, and the program is almost 100% run by
volunteers! The Adult Eye Program also needs people occasionally to help
with interviews and to set up appointments with our volunteer eye doctors.
If these opportunities sound like something you would like to do, please
contact Erika Johnson, Community Services Coordinator, at 376-4571, ext.
